Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Destin Sharks proved on Thursday. They blew past Poplar Springs 64-38.
Bryson Nixon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Flynt, who scored 11 points along with four blocks and three steals.
Despite the loss, Poplar Springs still got an impressive performance from Baron Hall, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Rhett Tate was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
The win got Destin back to even at 7-7. As for Poplar Springs, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Destin will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kaden Ellison and Nixon. Poplar Springs won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ashford at 7:15 p.m. on January 5th. Ashford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Poplar Springs in their respective states (Ashford is ranked 312th in Alabama, while Poplar Springs is ranked 678th in Florida).
