Tidewater Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Jaquan Griffin Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Friday, Middlesex got the W thanks in part to Jaquan Griffin playing the best football he has all season. Griffin rushed for 358 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 18.8 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 59 yards.
Charles City's probably not too fond of Griffin given he always seems to get the better of them. Griffin picked up 37 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Panthers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Shane Jones Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
On Friday, Charles City had to settle for second even though Shane Jones put up the best numbers he has all season. Jones rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 100 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Charles City is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7. Jones and Charles City will venture away from home to square off against King & Queen Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
