III Section III recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Mountain, who took down 119th ranked Apache Junction, 26-13. DREVONNE DODD ran for 140 yards during the win.
Adding to the longest winning streak in III Section III this week, Saguaro beat Greenway 48-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Sabercats.
Luke Rubenzer threw for 236 yards and 6 touchdowns. He went 8-12 with 0 interceptions.
Mason Johnson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Higley beat McClintock. The 6-foot-2 player forced 1 fumble, recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Rubenzer put up the best numbers in passing as Saguaro defeated the Demons. Rubenzer's favorite target this week was Christian Kirk, who caught 2 passes for 74 yards.
6-foot-5 quarterback Tyler Bloom of the Knights is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,240. He has also thrown 24 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is J.T. Nettleton. The Saguaro star has 33 catches for 866 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jason Mohns' team takes on Higley. The Sabercats are currently in second, while Eddy Zubey's team is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Saguaro and the Knights face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Sabercats comes in having scored 393 this season, while Higley has scored 349. Saguaro scored 48 points last week as it bested Greenway.
The Sabercats took down KJ Anthony's team 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Rubenzer ran for 24 yards in the win.
