After both having extra time off, the North Star Cougars and the Altoona Mountain Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altoona took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on North Star, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, North Star got the win against Greater Johnstown by a conclusive 3-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: North Star took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-12, 25-9.
Meanwhile, Altoona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Hollidaysburg. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mountain Lions have suffered against the Golden Tigers since October 24, 2022.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-17.
North Star will have to keep a close watch on Marina Petucci and Maraya Bittner, a pair of players who had a big impact on Altoona's prior game. Petucci had 15 digs, while Bittner had 12 assists and three digs. Petucci has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 12 times she's played.
North Star's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Altoona, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16-1.
