HINTON, Okla. - After seven lead changes,
Mangum (Okla.) took the lead for good when they ran in a two-point conversion with 8:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Hinton (Okla.) 36-34 on Saturday.
The Tigers led 14-13 at halftime, but the Comets recaptured the lead on a
Raedan Sharry touchdown run with 11:00 to go in the third.
Hinton scored on a touchdown run by Sharry in the quarter.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Mangum, which was coming off a 30-6 defeat at the hands of Cordell in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Hinton, which notched a 46-21 victory over Sayre in its previous outing. The win broke Mangum's three-game losing streak.
In a 2A District 3 game next week Hinton (2-2) takes on Washington, and Mangum (1-3) will go up against Comanche also in a 2A District 3 game.
