The Archer City Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Collinsville Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Archer City took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-8 victory over Munday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Archer City.
Archer City can attribute much of their success to Laine Hall, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and Landon Smith, who threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Chance Warren also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Collinsville came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Chico on the road to the tune of 61-7. Given Collinsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Chico is ranked 1167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Logan Jenkins was his usual excellent self, throwing for 483 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted 300 or more passing yards the last seven times he's played. Parker Wells did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 61 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Archer City to 5-4 and Collinsville to 9-1.
