Basketball Recap: Lawson Forthman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Christian Fellowship

Pope County lost to Christian Fellowship back in December of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Pope County Pirates came out on top against the Christian Fellowship Eagles by a score of 51-44.

Pope County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lawson Forthman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Forthman is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bella Fasolo, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Pope County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Pope County's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Christian Fellowship, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Pope County will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Gallatin County at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Christian Fellowship, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-25 loss against St. Mary on the 21st.
