On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Kolbe-Cathedral had to settle for a 43-41 loss against Middletown. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kolbe-Cathedral has scored all season.
Middletown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shalyn Smith out in front who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The game was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Porch, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Kolbe-Cathedral and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kolbe-Cathedral will square off against Bunnell at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Middletown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Haven at 12:45 p.m. on December 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (West Haven is ranked 73rd, while Middletown is ranked 90th).
