The Irwin County Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Bacon County Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bacon County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Irwin County, who comes in off a win.
After only six points in their last game, Irwin County made sure to put some points up on the board against Early County on Friday. Irwin County skirted past Early County 31-29.
Irwin County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaken Thomas, who rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Zay Payne also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bacon County was beaten by Brooks County 35-7 on Friday. Bacon County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bacon County's loss came about despite a quality game from Deanthony Green, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bacon County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Irwin County against Bacon County in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 66-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Irwin County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
