The University Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Waco Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, University got the win against Ellison by a conclusive 19-2. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

D'Angelo Alvarado made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of University's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Carlos Perez was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Anthony Galvan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Waco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lake Belton, falling 12-0.
Waco's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for University, their record is now 13-8.
Waco's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: University has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Waco, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given University's sizable advantage in that area, the Lions will need to find a way to close that gap.
University took their win against Waco in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
