The South Plaquemines Hurricanes suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Phoenix 66-33. South Plaquemines was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-18.
Despite the loss, South Plaquemines still got an impressive performance from Byrsten Prout, who scored 14 points.
Phoenix was led to victory by DERVONTE ANCAR and RONDELL BATTLE. ANCAR scored 18 points, while BATTLE dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which BATTLE has scored at least a third of Phoenix's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JAYLON MARTIN, who scored seven points.
South Plaquemines has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Phoenix, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Plaquemines the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 238 points over their last four matchups. As for Phoenix, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lutheran at 6:15 p.m.
