Truckee is 8-2 against Hug since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 1:00 p.m. Truckee knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Hug likes a good challenge.
On Monday, Truckee got the win against Wooster by a conclusive 20-4. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won six in a row.
Kaiya Rosario was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gwen Burns, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Truckee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.
Meanwhile, Hug lost 20-2 to South Tahoe on Friday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Hug saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisy Torres, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Truckee's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Hug, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Truckee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Hug struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Truckee's way against Hug in their previous meeting on April 5th, as Truckee made off with a 20-2 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
