The Example Academy National Eagles pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Sacred Heart.
Sacred Heart was led to victory by Reagan Bender and ZaKiyah Johnson. Bender scored 19 points along with 4 steals, while Johnson scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Sacred Heart's points. Another player making a difference was Angelina Pelayo, who scored 10 points.
Example Academy National's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Sacred Heart, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Example Academy National will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on D on December 14th. As for Sacred Heart, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Owensboro Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
