Lone Jack and Wellington-Napoleon are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Lone Jack Mules will stay at home for another game and welcome the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Missouri (Lone Jack is ranked 336th, while Wellington-Napoleon is ranked 343rd).
Lone Jack struggled with assists on Friday (Summit Christian Academy had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lone Jack was beaten by Summit Christian Academy 78-40. Lone Jack was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.
Lone Jack's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyler Carpenter, who scored eight points along with six rebounds, and Garrett Mantzey who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Thatcher Kamolz, who scored three points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wellington-Napoleon blew past Orrick, posting a 63-28 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Wellington-Napoleon has managed all season.
Trotter Hughes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Haden Terrill was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Lone Jack's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Wellington-Napoleon, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Tuesday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lone Jack have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wellington-Napoleon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
