The Cannon County Lions entered their tilt with the Cascade Champions with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Cannon County enjoyed a cozy 60-41 victory over Cascade on Tuesday. Given Cannon County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Cascade is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cascade's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Ray, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The game was Ray's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaegan Young, who scored 11 points.
Cannon County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Cascade, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cannon County is on the road again on Saturday and play against Central Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for Cascade, they will challenge Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
