The Antelope Titans will face off against the Grant Pacers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Antelope is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Antelope turned things around against Kennedy on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 7-3.
Andrea Quintanilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Long, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Deanna Richardson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Antelope hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Grant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against West Park, falling 34-2.
Grant saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ahmarahzanee' Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Grant's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12-1. As for Antelope, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Antelope has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Antelope's way against Grant in their previous matchup on April 1st, as Antelope made off with a 21-1 win. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Pacers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
