Newington is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Saturday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Rocky Hill Terriers at 3:00 p.m. One thing working in Newington's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
On Thursday, Newington didn't have quite enough to beat Maloney and fell 11-10.

Newington got a massive performance out of Kiley Connors, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Connors is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Peyton Stegmaier was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, Rocky Hill suffered their biggest defeat since May 6, 2024 on Friday. They lost 12-3 to Southington. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Terriers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Lianna Tejada was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ally Killoran, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Newington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Rocky Hill, they moved to 8-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Newington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rocky Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Newington was able to grind out a solid victory over Rocky Hill in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 11-6. Do the Nor'easters have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terriers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
