Basketball Recap: Jellico Comes Up Short

Jellico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 68-60 to Harriman. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Harriman this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-56 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Jellico still got an impressive performance from Kendall Osborn, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Osborn a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Savannah Lay, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harriman only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Harriman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ansley Moore led the charge by going 7-for-13 en route to 18 points and three steals. Moore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaralyn Humphrey, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 13 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Jellico's loss dropped their record down to 2-24. As for Harriman, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Jellico didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-25 defeat against Oliver Springs on the 17th. As for Harriman, they will face off against Midway at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Harriman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
