The Centennial Rams had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Antonito by a score of 41-33 on Friday. Centennial's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Centennial found their leader in underclassman Reina Aguilera, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Aguilera pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Salcido, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Antonito still got an impressive performance from Destanaya Quintana, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Quintana is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Antonito, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Centennial will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Custer County at 4:30 p.m. Antonito won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Moffat at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Moffat focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
