Jaxson Dart got his first NFL start Sept. 28, not only did he inject some life into the New York Giants, he also bolstered the Utah powerhouse's reputation as a quarterback factory.
Dart joins 2018 Corner Canyon grad Zach Wilson, currently with the Miami Dolphins, as former Chargers in the NFL.
Corner Canyon, which opened in 2013, has already produced five state championships in seven title-game appearances thanks in part to a pipeline at the game's most important position.
Which high schools have been the most prolific at producing high-level quarterbacks this century? We narrowed it down to five listed in alphabetical order below.
Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) Zach Wilson (Class of 2018) – Had 5,842 career passing yards to go with 45 touchdowns before starring at BYU and becoming the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Wilson currently is with the Miami Dolphins.
Cole Hagen (2020) – Brought Corner Canyon its first two state championships with a 43-touchdown senior year, where he was named the Utah Gatorade Player of the Year. He is currently at BYU.
Jaxson Dart (2021) – Was named the 2020 MaxPreps National Player of the Year after leading the country in passing and bringing another state title to Draper. He was the 25th overall pick in the 2025 draft out of Mississippi and has moved into the starting role with the Giants.
Devin Brown (2022) – Led the state in passing as a senior with 4,881 yards while reaching the state final. He began his collegiate career at Ohio State but he is currently at Cal.
Isaac Wilson (2024) – Zach's younger brother has bragging rights on his big brother with a state banner to his name. He averaged 328 yards per game with 49 TDs as a senior. He currently plays for Utah.
Helaman Casuga (2026) – The current top-ranked quarterback in the state of Utah has the Chargers off to a 6-1 start with 1,976 yards, and 20 TDs. He is committed to Texas A&M.
Folsom (Calif.)Dano Graves (2011) – Led Folsom to its first of five state titles en route to the MaxPreps National Player of the Year award. He had 4,696 total yards and 85 total touchdowns before heading to Cal Poly.
Jake Browning (2015) – Won a state crown and broke career and single-season passing records with 16,776 yards and 229 TDs (including 91 in his senior year). He broke school records at Washington with 12,296 yards and 94 TDs. Browning went undrafted but has started in recent weeks for the Cincinnati Bengals in place of an injured Joe Burrow.
Kaiden Bennett (2020) – The only Folsom quarterback to lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back state crowns. Bennett had more than 11,000 total yards and 159 touchdowns in his career. He played four years at Sacramento State before moving on to Delaware State.
Austin Mack (2023) – At 6-foot-6, Mack threw 40 touchdown passes as a junior and reclassified to join the University of Washington a year early. He never played for the Huskies but is now a backup at Alabama.
Ryder Lyons (2026) – A fourth-year varsity player who has engineered section championships in each of his previous three seasons. The five-star BYU commit is approaching 8,000 career passing yards and 100 TDs in the air with another 1,600 yards and 50 TDs on the ground.
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)Matt Leinart (2001) – Had a decorated collegiate career at USC that included two national championships and a Heisman Trophy. He was a top 10 draft pick in 2006 and played parts of six seasons in the NFL.
Colt Brennan (2002) – Leinart's backup before his senior year at Mater Dei. He flourished at Hawaii, where he was a Heisman finalist in 2007. He was a sixth-round draft pick in 2007 but never played in the NFL. Tragically passed in 2021.
Matt Barkley (2009) – Compiled 9,471 passing yards and 79 TDs in his Mater Dei career before a standout run at USC and seven seasons in the NFL.
J.T. Daniels (2018) – The 2017 MaxPreps National Player of the Year led Mater Dei to its first state title. He had 12,014 passing yards and 152 TDs for his career. He played at USC, Georgia, West Virginia and Rice before medically retiring from football in 2023.
Bryce Young (2020) – Young transferred to Mater Dei before his junior season and immediately led the Monarchs to a state title. He then threw 58 TDs as a senior before becoming a national champ and Heisman winner at Alabama. Young was the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2023 and currently starts for the Carolina Panthers.
Elijah Brown (2024) – The only Mater Dei QB to win two state titles, Brown had 9,289 passing yards and 115 touchdown passes. He is currently at Stanford.
Southlake Carroll (Southlake, Texas)Chase Daniel (2005) – Led the state in passing with 4,617 yards and 49
touchdowns while bringing the Dragons a state crown as a senior. He went
undrafted after a standout career at Missouri but enjoyed a 13-year NFL
career.
Greg McElroy (2006) – Won a state title of his own and a national championship at Alabama before playing in two NFL games
with the Jets.
Riley Dodge (2008) – The 2006 MaxPreps National Player of
the Year followed Daniel and McElroy by bringing a third straight state
championship to Southlake, where he is currently the head coach. He has
led his alma mater to two state final appearances.
Kenny Hill
(2013) – Led Southlake Carrol to a state crown in 2011 and had 11,276
total yards and 130 career TDs before playing for Texas A&M and TCU.
Quinn Ewers (2021) – Had 6,445 passing yards and 73 touchdowns between his
sophomore and junior seasons before reclassifying ahead of his highly
anticipated senior campaign. He was previously the No. 1 prospect for
the class of 2022 before enrolling at Texas. He was a seventh-round
draft pick by the Dolphins in 2025.
Angelo Renda (2026) – The current signal caller for the Dragons has piled up 6,253 yards and 67 touchdowns over three seasons. Southlake Carroll is 6-0 and ranked nationally thanks in part to his efforts. Headed to Pittsburgh next year.
Timmy Chang (2000) – Once held the NCAA Division I record with 17,072 passing yards while at Hawaii, where he is currently the program's head coach.
Marcus Mariota (2011) – Won a state title as a senior with the Crusaders. Mariota then went on to become a Heisman winner at Oregon and the second overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Tennessee Titans. He is currently with the Washington Commanders in his 11th NFL season.
Tua Tagovailoa (2017) – Tagovailoa makes Saint Louis the second team in the NFL with two QB alums (along with Corner Canyon). He threw 84 touchdowns for the Crusaders before winning a national championship at Alabama. Has turned into a Pro Bowl quarterback in his sixth year with the Dolphins.
Chevan Cordeiro (2018) – Brought Saint Louis a state title in his senior year. He played collegiately at Hawaii and San Jose State.
Jayden de Laura (2020) – State player of the year as a senior, he showed promise early on at Washington State before moving on to Arizona and Texas State. He most recently led the Vegas Knight Hawks to the 2025 Indoor League Football championship and was named the game's MVP.
