Sevier County and the Trojans are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Sevier County Smoky Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sevier County has 15 straight wins, the Trojans have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Sevier County stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Fulton, posting a 51-21 win on the road. Given Sevier County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Falcons are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Morristown-Hamblen West had to settle for a 47-44 defeat against the Fighting Cocks on Monday.
Sevier County pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Sevier County against the Trojans when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 69-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sevier County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
