WASHINGTON, D.C. - After swapping the lead three times,
Roosevelt (Washington, D.C.) took the lead for the win when they ran in a two-point conversion in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over
Eastern (Washington, D.C.) 28-14.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown run by
Jerome Johnson, the Ramblers went into halftime with a 14-8 lead. The Roughriders took the lead for good with a two-point conversion in the third quarter.
Roosevelt came in allowing an average of 25.3 points per game this season. A defensively strong RHS kept Eastern above the 10.4 points it had been averaging per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Roughriders, who lost to Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering last week, 18-13. The loss comes after Eastern defeated Bell 30-6 last week.
Roosevelt (3-6) goes up against McKinley Tech in a DCIAA - Stripes game matchup next week, while Eastern (3-5) locks horns with Cardozo also in a DCIAA - Stripes game.
