Basketball Recap: Tri-Township Takes a Loss

Tri-Township lost against Washington Township back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tri-Township Tigers took a blow against the Washington Township Senators, falling 65-35. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Senators are ranked 163rd).

Despite the loss, Tri-Township still got an impressive performance from Dillon Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 19 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Koselke, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Tri-Township has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Washington Township, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Township will take on Morgan Township at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Washington Township, they will square off against Knox at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Washington Township's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
