The Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association beat Trinity Episcopal 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Sophia Peterson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Peterson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Reagan Litchford was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madison Machotka, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Miller School of Albemarle didn't have quite enough to beat Fredericksburg Christian on Tuesday and fell 6-4.
Like Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, Miller School of Albemarle also got a great game from a two-way player: Emelia DelCarmen. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). DelCarmen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Pallante made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Lani Massarella was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Miller School of Albemarle's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, their record now sits at 13-5.
Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association couldn't quite finish off Miller School of Albemarle in their previous meeting on April 1st and fell 3-1. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
