Tooele is 0-5 against the Colts since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tooele Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cottonwood Colts at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Tooele was the victim of a tough 61-40 loss at the hands of the Beetdiggers. Tooele has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Tooele saw an underclassman step up: Kennedy Searle scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Searle is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Josie Kennedy, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cottonwood came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Murray 50-32.
Cottonwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carley Caton, who scored 12 points. Isabella Morris was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Tooele's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Cottonwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tooele have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Tooele suffered a grim 56-34 defeat to the Colts in their previous meeting back in January. Will Tooele have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
