Captain Shreve is 10-0 against Byrd since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Captain Shreve Gators will head out on the road to square off against the Byrd Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Captain Shreve is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Byrd in Louisiana (Captain Shreve is ranked 80th, while Byrd is ranked 1082nd).
In what's become a running theme this season, Captain Shreve gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Haughton 56-22 at home. Winning may never get old, but Captain Shreve sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Captain Shreve's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Lofton, who scored 12 points. Ejoshua Mcdonald was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Byrd pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 81-63 bruising from Natchitoches Central.
Captain Shreve is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.
Everything came up roses for Captain Shreve against Byrd in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 59-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Captain Shreve since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
