Paso Robles has gone 7-2 against Nipomo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bearcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Paso Robles has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Paso Robles had just enough and edged out Cabrillo 3-1.
Noemi Ayon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Nipomo earned a 7-3 win over Pioneer Valley on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.
Nipomo also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Alyssa Van Muysen gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, Van Muysen is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Roxanne McLean was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Sophie Quaresma also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Nipomo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Paso Robles' record is now 10-6. As for Nipomo, their record now sits at 5-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Paso Robles hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Nipomo struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Paso Robles couldn't quite finish off Nipomo when the teams last played back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
