The Maclay Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Bolles Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Maclay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Maclay earned a 6-2 win over Jefferson County.
Landon Barineau was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Beau Beshears was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
Maclay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bolles posted their closest victory since February 25th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Bartram Trail. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Bolles also got a great performance from Jaxson Richter as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Richter has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylan Baker, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ford McCarthy, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one RBI.
Maclay's record is now 13-5. As for Bolles, their record now sits at 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Maclay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bolles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
