The Laurel Golden Tornadoes won the last time they faced the Taylorsville Tartars, and things went their way on Friday too. Laurel breezed by Taylorsville on the road to the tune of 58-10. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-4.
Laurel found their leader in underclassman Kayllis Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least 25% of Laurel's points. Takiyah Thames was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Laurel's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Taylorsville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Laurel will be playing at home against St. Patrick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Laurel is ranked 20th). Taylorsville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Jones at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
