The Jackson Aggies are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Blount Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Blount took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Jackson humbled Fruitdale with a 59-8 victory. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Fruitdale is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyra Caves, who scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Caves has scored at least 25% of Jackson's points. Angel Powell was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Blount ended up a good deal behind St. Martin on Saturday and lost 57-38.
Jackson pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Blount, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Jackson beat Blount 58-45 in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
