Merritt Island had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Satellite Scorpions with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their 19th in a row.
Kylee Thompson paced Merritt Island's offense, picking up 12 kills. Thompson got some help from Amber Ives and her 18 assists. Reece Loggins and Sarah Niazi kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Despite the loss, Satellite saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cady Tinch had 21 digs and two assists. Tinch is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
