Baseball Recap: Cisne Takes a Loss

Cisne had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-18 to make it 15. They came up short against the Edwards County Lions, falling 21-0. The Runnin' Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Edwards County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Edwards County's part, Walker Sledge made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Sledge a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Wyatt Greathouse looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Drew Roosevelt was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Owen Lynch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Cisne will square off against Galatia/Thompsonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Runnin' Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Edwards County, they will venture away from home to face off against Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
