Basketball Recap: Ashlyn Kraus Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat First Academy

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Legacy Charter on Friday. They blew past the First Academy Eagles 48-22. Legacy Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Legacy Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlyn Kraus out in front who went 7 for 15 en route to 17 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kraus has scored at least a third of Legacy Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joi Medley, who made all 6 shots she took racking up 12 points.

Legacy Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, First Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sarah Rodriguez posted no points and six steals. Those six steals gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

Legacy Charter's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for First Academy, they moved to 11-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Legacy Charter will challenge Altamonte Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamonte Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Legacy Charter surely won't give up without a fight. First Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
