The Jefferson Raiders will take on the Auburn Mountainview Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson will be strutting in after a win while Auburn Mountainview will be coming in after a defeat.
Jefferson took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Federal Way as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Wyatt Ford
Jefferson got a great performance from Wyatt Ford as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Ford also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Raiders are 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Kort Baker and Andre Redmond did most of the damage at the plate: Baker went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Redmond went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Redmond has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Xavier Fondale, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kentlake hit Auburn Mountainview with a nine-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions lost 14-3 to the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered against the Falcons since April 21, 2023.
Auburn Mountainview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Shoul, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Shoul has launched this season.
Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Auburn Mountainview, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Jefferson couldn't quite finish off Auburn Mountainview when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
