Roaring Fork has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the Aspen Skiers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Roaring Fork knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Skiers like a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Roaring Fork didn't have too much trouble with the Cowboys at home as they won 64-48.
Roaring Fork relied on the efforts of Riley Bevington, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds, and Carly Crownhart, who scored 29 points. Bevington hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikki Tardif, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Aspen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 54-22 loss at the hands of Cedaredge. Aspen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.
Roaring Fork pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Aspen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Roaring Fork was able to grind out a solid win over the Skiers when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 36-28. Does Roaring Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skiers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
