The Amherst County Lancers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Amherst County pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-63 to Jefferson Forest. Amherst County has struggled against Jefferson Forest recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Austin Brooks, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Black, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 18th straight defeat. They were outmatched by Heritage on the road and fell 74-46. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while Heritage is ranked 81st).
Amherst County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Amherst County against Liberty in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 97-65 victory. Will Amherst County repeat their success, or does Liberty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
