Western Illinois Valley - North recap Oct. 3, 2012
Central/Southeastern extended the longest winning streak in Western Illinois Valley - North this week by beating Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, 33-22. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Panthers.
Unity/Seymour took down Illinois School for the Deaf 42-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Dalton Heubner was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 172 yards on 15 carries as Central/Southeastern beat the Trojans. Teammate Douglas Weese added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
Tanner Huddleston put up the best numbers through the air as Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia lost to the Panthers. He finished with five completions for 51 yards. Huddleston's favorite target this week was Dakota Longley, who caught two passes for 37 yards.
Landes was the best wideout in the league this week as Central/Southeastern bested Rich Thompson's team. Landes tallied one reception for 40 yards. Heubner helped Central/Southeastern's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
The Trojans' Huddleston and Longley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Western Illinois Valley - North in both passing and receiving yards. Huddleston has thrown for 333 yards this season, while Longley, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has five catches for 121 yards. The Panthers' Heubner leads the league in rushing yards with 887.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brown County takes on the Mustangs. The Hornets are in third place, while Unity/Seymour is in fourth place.
Central/Southeastern made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,187 from 4,628. The improvement was the result of 33-22 victory over Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia last week.
