The Floyd Central Jaguars can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Lawrence County with a 59-54 victory. The victory was just what Floyd Central needed coming off of a 71-39 defeat in their prior match.
Riley Compton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Floyd Central's points. Another player making a difference was Allie Adkins, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Floyd Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floyd Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pike County Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Lawrence County, they will head out on the road to square off against Wayne at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
