The Sparta Academy Warriors won against the Pickens Academy Pirates last Saturday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Sparta Academy enjoyed a cozy 60-42 win over Pickens Academy. With that win, Sparta Academy brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Jamie Ellissa Deason was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mary Trainham Brock, who scored ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Sparta Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-2. As for Pickens Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Monroe Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 29th. Monroe Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Sparta Academy is ranked 93rd). Pickens Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024.
