Grant and Ida B. Wells are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Generals will host the Guardians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Grant nor McDaniel made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Generals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mountain Lions, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Generals have posted since May 2, 2025.

Hazel Heron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Uva Tomita, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Olive Raak also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ida B. Wells ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past Roosevelt 10-8. The victory was nothing new for the Guardians as they're now sitting on three straight.
Ava McMahon was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Zoe Wise was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Ida B. Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in four consecutive games.
Grant's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Ida B. Wells, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Grant was able to grind out a solid win over Ida B. Wells in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 10-6. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Guardians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
