Elyria extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 13-5 to the Midview Middies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Middies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-5 on April 9th.
Alliyah Alberto and Jaelyn Green stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alberto went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Green went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That home run was Alberto's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Palos, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Midview, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Midview's side, Jillian Vandersluis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Vandersluis has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Midview got a massive performance out of Dezirae Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Ballachino, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elyria will welcome Berea-Midpark at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Titans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Midview, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Olmsted Falls at 4:45 p.m. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Middies surely won't give up without a fight.
