The Sumter County Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sumter County has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-3 during that stretch of close contests.
Even though Worth County scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Sumter County still came out on top. Sumter County managed a 62-58 win over Worth County.
Meanwhile, Jeff Davis came up short against Treutlen on Tuesday and fell 58-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jeff Davis in their matchups with Treutlen: they've now lost three in a row.
The losing side was boosted by L'earl Conaway, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of A.J. Hunt, who scored eight points.
Sumter County's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Jeff Davis, they bumped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Sumter County against Jeff Davis when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumter County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
