Vale had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Ontario Tigers as the Vale Vikings made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Maddox Hartley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hartley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Vale let Tate Cook and Kellen Hartley run wild. Cook went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hartley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Damick Eddy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
