Even though the Universal Academy Falcons have not done well against the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Universal Academy came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 19-12. The score was all tied up 6-6 at the break, but Universal Academy was the (much) better team in the second half.
Despite the loss, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic had strong showings from Aliana Arana, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and five steals, and Talena McRoberts, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that McRoberts pulled down eight or more rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Universal Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-12. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Universal Academy will take on the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Berkeley Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
