The Wheatland-Chili Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Northstar Christian Academy Knights at 5:30 p.m. Wheatland-Chili has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
On Saturday, Wheatland-Chili strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 60-44. Given Wheatland-Chili's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Mustangs are ranked 624th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leighton Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Schwenebraten, who scored ten points.
While Northstar Christian Academy couldn't quite beat the Tigers last Saturday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 20-point defeat they were dealt last Thursday. Northstar Christian Academy fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 52-49. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northstar Christian Academy has scored all season.
Wheatland-Chili's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Northstar Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Wheatland-Chili beat the Knights 63-55 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Will Wheatland-Chili repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
