The Key Obezags will challenge the Pallotti Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Key is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Park School just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 8-5 to the Bruins.
Key saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Neenan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jarvis Mahone also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Pallotti got the win against Chapelgate Christian Academy on Monday by a conclusive 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Everson Vaughan and Ryan Cobb-Davis made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Vaughan tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cobb-Davis tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Vaughan also tossed no walks, which is notable because Pallotti is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5 otherwise. At bat, Vaughan scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Cobb-Davis scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Pallotti let Kevin Wagner-Feick and Robert Gamble run wild. Wagner-Feick went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Gamble went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Gus Chackmakian-Lodge was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Pallotti's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Key, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Key hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Pallotti struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Key might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Pallotti when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Key have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
