Fife hasn't had much luck against Puyallup recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will welcome the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fife took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over Steilacoom. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three games by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Fife got a massive performance out of Sophia Payne, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases were Payne's first of the season. Hailey Ufer was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, Puyallup got the win against Bethel on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-1.
Kiera Thomas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Thomas was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Ringenbach, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maren Santiago, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Puyallup always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fife is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Puyallup, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Fife might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Puyallup in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
