The Manzano Monarchs were the 52-17 winner over the Rio Grande Ravens when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Manzano falling 58-43. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Manzano's loss on Saturday came despite strong showings from Daira Solis and Keke Thomas. Solis scored 14 points, while Thomas scored six points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Solis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camya Lawshea, who scored six points.
Manzano has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Rio Grande, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.
Manzano will stay at home for another game and welcome Belen at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Belen is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Rio Grande, they will head out on the road to square off against Albuquerque at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Albuquerque will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
