Two dominant guards in Maddison Neale and Brooke Harding are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ponderosa Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponderosa is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Ponderosa was beaten by the Wolverines 69-28. Ponderosa has struggled against the Wolverines recently, as their game on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Ponderosa had strong showings from Neale, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Haley Roderick, who scored four points along with two steals. That was a full 39.3% of Ponderosa's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ponderosa struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are 1-4 when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Mountain Vista 86-69. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Rock Canyon as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Ponderosa has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Rock Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Ponderosa ended up a good deal behind the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 50-35. Can Ponderosa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
