The Ponchatoula Green Wave will face off against the Lutcher Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponchatoula is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Ponchatoula will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Albany on Monday. Ponchatoula was the clear victors by a 21-10 margin over Albany. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 20, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Abby Dagro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and one double.
In other batting news, Ponchatoula got a massive performance out of Rae'El Wheat, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That home run was Wheat's first of the season. Demi Sanchez was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Ponchatoula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lutcher didn't have quite enough to beat Southside on Saturday and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly two runs.
This is the second loss in a row for Lutcher and nudges their season record down to 3-3. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Ponchatoula, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Ponchatoula was able to grind out a solid victory over Lutcher when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 9-5. Will Ponchatoula repeat their success, or does Lutcher have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
